Economic Development
Awards A Huge Success!
The 2003 Annual Long Island Economic Development Awards presented
by Long Island Development Corporation last month saw a record
crowd. Some 300 Long Island real estate brokers, government
and business leaders, educators, attorneys and accountants
gathered last month at the Huntington Town House to participate
in the 2003 Annual Awards Breakfast-now in its sixth year.
At the Awards Breakfast, Long Island Development Corporation
(LIDC) recognizes and salutes those individuals and institutions
which support the Long Island economy and citizens by encouraging
business and entrepreneurship. LIDC is Long Island's premier
small business lender, consistently ranked as the number one
lender to Long Island's business community. Invitations to
its Annual Awards are coveted because this event is one of
the few such events where awards are given purely based on
merit - not on who can sell tables or ads. The 2003 Awards
recognized Long Islanders who have contributed to the betterment
of business and helped to make LI a welcome place for the
entrepreneurial spirit. Featured speakers at the event included
Jose Sifontes, District Director US Small Business Administration
and LIDC's Board of Directors, headed by Chairman Douglas
Asofsky (Citibank), Vice Chair Jack Kennedy (Building Trades
Council) and President/CEO Roz Goldmacher.
